Obituary of Carolyn J McWilliams

Carolyn McWilliams was born on March 8, 1947 in San Diego, California to Willis Barber and  Willie Rogenia L. Unseld. She was the third ,  child out of eight, totaling 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She was raised in Wichita Ks, Later moved to California and attended Long Beach City College where she graduated in Early Childhood Development. She singly raised 6 children.  Carolyn was a loving Mother, grand mother, sister and friend. Many others considered her as their mother Mac. Carolyn was an active member of Joseph of Jacob united Church of God and Christ. At Joseph's she was a Usher, Choir member and organized, decorated, on financial commity,  prepared food for many events for several years. Carolyn talents were many, she was an extremely accomplished self-taught seamstress, cook, a beloved mother, grandmother, community volunteer and friend who loved to entertain, she loved to see everyone that was around her be happy.  Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Willis Barber, her mother, and Sons - Reginald McWilliams and Ron McWilliams, Grandchildren - Reginald McWilliams Jr, Jaylen McWilliams, Tyrell Singletary,  Siblings - Edward White, Larry White, Jerry Nears, Barbra J. Clark. Best friend - Brenda Logan.

Those left to cherish the memories of a beautiful treasure and trusted to us by God, her children Damita J. Cuffey of Downey California, Willis McWilliams of California, Nicole D. McWilliams of Tucson Arizona, Tracy L. McWilliams of Long Beach California. Siblings- Patricia M. Jones, Rochelle D. Ponds, Michael Ponds, and a host of grand and great-grand children, nieces and nephews.  

The Family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help given by Hospice Casa De La Luz team for helping/comforting us through a difficult time. Thanks to Advair Funeral Homes & El Encanto Memorial Crematory, Inc.  Thanks To Bishop Ray Moten of Joseph of Jacob  United Church of God and Christ for officiating services.

Your words have comforted us, your support has strengthened us, and your love has sustained us!

We extend our deepest thanks to you for your kindness during our greatest sadness.  We appreciate it more than words can express, and it will always be remembered with warm regards.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM at Adair Funeral Homes-Avalon Chapel, 8090 N Northern Avenue with her Funeral Service following at 1:00PM with Bishop Ray Moten, Officiating.
