Elizabeth F. Hansen, 89, of Payson, AZ peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on February 17, 2024 at the home of her son, Dennis Hansen Jr. in Tucson, AZ.   She was born the eldest of twin girls to Charlie and Elizabeth Knox in Globe, Arizona.  She is survived by two children, Dennis Hansen, Jr. (Stella) of Tucson and Kathleen Finuf (Larry) of Oro Valley, AZ; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband and high school sweetheart Dennis Hansen in November 2023 after 70 years of marriage; also predeceased by her twin sister, Francis E. McAllister in November 2023 and by her brother, Charlie A. Knox (Sonny) in 1987.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Globe, AZ, graduating from Globe High School.  After marrying Dennis, Elizabeth supported him in his Naval career in multiple assignments on the West Coast.  After Dennis left the Navy, they made a home in Yuma, Arizona where Elizabeth was a homemaker for many years.  She also worked as a civil service employee for Yuma Proving Ground and the Marine Corp Air Station.  At times, she worked during tax season for Hinkle & Perius, Inc.  Elizabeth even found time to work a couple years at Yuma High School cafeteria.

Elizabeth loved the Lord, her husband, and family.  She loved to teach children in Sunday School and VBS, serving 20+ years at Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Yuma.   After retiring to Payson, AZ, she continued to serve the Lord in children’s ministry as an active member of Star Valley Baptist Church.  They were also members of Ponderosa Bible Church and she was a volunteer during tax season with AARP for many years.

God blessed Elizabeth with many gifts and talents.  She taught herself to play the organ, directed and sang in church choir and attended Arizona Western College to study art.  Elizabeth was gifted in drawing, oil painting and pastels; was a very talented seamstress and quilter.  She was an excellent cook.  Many friends, family and neighbors benefited from her talents in the kitchen.  It was her joy to serve others with her many gifts, especially around her dining table.

Elizabeth also loved to garden, camp, hunt and fish with her husband.

We wish to recognize and give special thanks to the professional, compassionate care provided by Casa de la Luz Hospice of Tucson, specifically our loving RN, Kim and LNA, Bernadette.

A memorial luncheon will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 12 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Kathleen Finuf in Oro Valley, AZ.   Elizabeth will be laid to rest, at a later date, beside her husband, Dennis, at Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Marana, AZ.

Psalm 62:1 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation, he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
