Obituary of Mark Edward Bodde

Mark Edward Bodde, passed away on October 13 in Tucson, Arizona. Beloved son of Bernard Bodde; brother of Susan, Michael and Margaret Bodde; uncle to Marisa Martinez, Milo Bodde, Anna and John Fleming; brother-in-law of Don Fleming and Lori Piastuch. Mark was preceded in death by his loving mother Elizabeth “Betty” Bodde (née Taylor). Mark was born on April 15, 1967 in a Chevy Impala on the way to the hospital in Parma, Ohio -- one of the first signs of his lifelong love of cars and his independent spirit. He spent his early years in Acton, Massachusetts and St. Louis, Missouri, before moving to Phoenix in 2002 and discovering the southwest desert landscape.

Mark had an early interest in science and technology; building his first computer with his father when he was a teenager. His fascination with 1980s arcade games sparked his interest in programming. He had a successful career as a Senior Salesforce Developer for Everest Consulting.

An avid athlete and outdoorsman, Mark spent time every day running, hiking, mountain biking, golfing, or playing tennis. Mark treasured his relationships with his nieces and nephews. During summer vacations on Cape Cod, Mark shared with them his love of biking, games, ice cream, and laughter. During their college years out west, Mark enjoyed spending time with his nieces: Marisa in Flagstaff and Anna in Boulder.

Mark was a loving and devoted son to his mother, whom he cherished and who helped inspire his love for nature and animals. Mark adored his two Vizslas, Doogie and Yogi, who were his constant companions on his many outdoor adventures.

Mark was a kind soul with a quick-witted sense of humor, who dearly loved his family and friends. Mark’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of all of those who loved him.

A memorial service is being planned for a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s honor can be considered to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or Best Friends.
