Obituary of Donald Edward Cline

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Edward Cline announce his passing on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the age of 60.

Don was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 26, 1962 - the son of Ralph and Beverly (Courney) Cline. Don grew up in Mayfield Heights, Ohio with his brother, Gil and sister, Patti. Don developed his talent for music and acting at a young age. He sang in several choirs, musical groups, and participated in theater groups throughout school. He became quite an accomplished pianist. His childhood was an idyllic time in his life, which he recalled fondly.

After graduating from high school, Don attended the University of Illinois to enter the Mental Health Worker program. There he provided counseling services at a mental health center. Don had a wonderful gift of listening, connecting, and creating a bond with others- a gift he used in his job as a social worker and as a funeral director.

Don was loved by so many. Don was always there when you needed him with his kind heart, caring soul and loyal devotion. His comical sense of humor always brought laughter to family and friends. His presence would light up a room.

After meeting the love of his life, Don moved from Phoenix to Tucson. Don’s devotion to Brian was shown in many ways. He supported Brian’s passionate hobby to search for thrift-store treasures by driving him to each store and then waiting patiently outside, working on his puzzles. Don loved to bring joy to Brian, fulfilling his every quirky wish.

You’d often find Don enjoying a good movie, especially sci-fi, cartoons, and gross zombie horror movies, reading comics or thrillers, eating out at a favorite restaurant, and working on his latest puzzle book. Every Tuesday was spent with Richard, David, and the rest of his movie club friends. Don loved traveling and especially the detailed planning of his itinerary for trips to Hawaii, Alaska, and a cruise to the Bahamas. He also traveled the country to each amusement park to experience the thrill of every ride. One of Don’s greatest adventures was sky-diving to celebrate his 50th birthday. The video of this day records his screams of delight as he fell from the sky.

Don will be lovingly remembered by his partner and husband of seventeen years, Brian, his sister, Patti, and many other dear relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by pets Noodle, Olive, Spotty, and Lexi.

A visitation and memorial service will be held from 5:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Adair Funeral Home - Dodge Chapel 1050 North Dodge Boulevard, Tucson.
