Luke Foster

Obituary of Luke Jackson Foster

Luke "LJ" Foster was born May 29, 1936, near Mena, Arkansas, to Allie Moses Foster and Nancy Elizabeth Medford. He entered his heavenly home on December 23, 2021, at age 85. He was preceded in death in 1971 by his wife Helen Marie Mourton whom he wed on August 26, 1956, and by his parents Allie (1996) and Elizabeth (2000). Luke is survived by his wife Barbara whom he wed on September 15, 1972, daughter Cheryl (John) Hall, sons Jonathan (Jessica) and Philip (Patty), seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother James Foster of Arkansas, Arbelle Short and Joyce (Allen) Gordanier of Oregon, Linda (Mark) Howell of Kentucky, Emma Crawford of Oklahoma, and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Luke dedicated his life to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ at a young age, and later as a young man he had an encounter that changed his life forever and led to a fuller understanding of the Word of God. This remained with him to the end of his earthly life. His love for the Lord was evident in the love and kindness he showed to others, always there to give an unselfish helping hand when needed to his family and many friends. He especially enjoyed singing Gospel songs and playing his guitar with family, friends, and at church, but he also took great pleasure in singing Gospel songs and playing his guitar for nursing home folks, which he did regularly for many years in Willcox and Tucson. In addition to his musical interests, he was talented in all construction trades, working with his hands long hours to provide for his family. Memories of his sweet spirit and many unselfish deeds will live on in the hearts and minds of his loving family and friends. Goodbye dear one, until we meet again, never to part.
