Obituary of Kathleen Rich

Kathleen Marie Rich (Cook) was born September 3, 1970 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50 on July 10, 2021 in Tucson, Arizona.

She is survived by her daughters, Madison Rich and McKenna Rich; her grandchild, Raelynn Larner; her parents, Ronald and Sharon Cook; her sisters, Kerri DeLange (Ben) and Jennifer Sanders (Tom); her brothers, Kevin Cook (Cassy) and Ron Cook Jr.; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kathy attended Troy Athens High School and after graduation attended Central Michigan University where she received her B.S. in Elementary Education and taught elementary school in Michigan for 18 years.

In July 2020, Kathy visited Tucson, AZ and fell in love with the city. She secured a job at Sierra Tucson where she made a meaningful impact on many lives by sharing her story, showing compassion, and just being her caring self. Kathy was a bright shining soul with a huge heart for her family, friends, and any animal she met. She was witty and hilarious and could make anyone laugh.

Kathy will be deeply missed and remembered as a kind loving mother, grandma, daughter, sister, and friend to many.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00pm on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Alive Church located at 9662 N La Cholla Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85742. There will be an opportunity to share memories of Kathy for anyone that wishes to.

For out-of-town friends unable to attend, the service will be streamed live at https://alivechurchtucson.online.church. If you wish to share a memory during the service, there will be a chat feature that will be relayed to the pastor to read. A Celebration of Life will also take place in Michigan at 1pm on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at The Aurelius Township Hall, 1939 Aurelius Rd., Mason, MI 48854.

Kathy was a life-long lover of animals and took several into her care over the years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kathy’s name could be made to The Humane Society or The Make-a-Wish Foundation.
