Yolanda Porreca

Obituary of Yolanda Porreca

“Mothers are a gift from heaven God uses to demonstrate his love for all children. No one will ever love you like God or a mother does, But take solace in the fact that you'll meet again someday”.

A Gift From God

By Tamsen Butler

Yolanda Porreca, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt died on March 27, 2021 in Tucson, Arizona. She was in her home and surrounded by her family, Frank and Gabriella Porreca, her son and daughter-in-law, and her granddaughters Francesca and Daniella Porreca. She is preceded in death by her husband Domenico Porreca. She is survived by her sisters Angelina DeCamillis, Maria Calderara and Agnesa D’Ulisse and her brother Nicola Vizzarri.

Yolanda was born in Casoli, Chieti (Abbruzzo, Italy) on December 23, 1929. She married Domenico, the love of her life for 48 years together and forever. Together, they immigrated to Australia before moving to Ardmore, Pennsylvania. While in the Philadelphia area, Yolanda worked tirelessly as a seamstress to provide a home for her family and an education for her son. Yolanda and Domenico relocated to Tucson, Arizona to be with their family but especially, to spend their retirement with Francesca and Daniella.

Yolanda never stopped showing her love for her family – she thought always of us first and shared all that she had. She adored her grandchildren. She lived a life every day with the love of a Mother, a love that will never end. We are comforted by remembering all of the joy and happy moments that we shared with her. Yolanda was a faithful parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and a member of the Marian Club. She loved making Italian cookies and cakes to share with her family and she never missed being a part of the bake sale.
