Obituary of Borje Ejrup MD

Borje Ejrup M.D., Ph.D. Just three months short of his 105th Birthday, Dr. Ejrup passed away peacefully on Memorial Day May 25, 2015 in Tucson, AZ. He was born in Stockholm, Sweden on August 19, 1910. Dr. Ejrup was a physician, specializing in cardiovascular and peripheral vascular diseases and a pioneer in Sweden by establishing smoking cessation clinics (in the 1950's). In the early 1960's, he came to the United States and did research work at Cornell University, New York Hospital in New York City. He then decided to stay in the States, became a U.S. citizen in 1973 and took over an existing medical office in Douglaston, NY, where he lived until 1998, when he and his wife Vera moved to Tucson, AZ. Dr. Ejrup was an avid tennis player (he celebrated his 100th Birthday by playing with his oldest daughter on his own court at his summer home in the Archipelago outside Stockholm, Sweden), bridge player, loved reading, traveling and enjoyed a good debate. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera. He is survived by his wife, Gun; children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
