Obituary of Stuart Mck Hunter II

Stuart McK. Hunter, II 3/4/1919 - 6/19/2015 Born in Omaha and raised in Minnesota, Stuart graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College (MN) and earned a Masters Degree from Northwestern U. (IL). He had four years military service (two in Europe) and was decorated for writing a postwar historical critique of the Army's Transportation Corps operations in Europe. After the war, he served as the chief human resources executive for several financial, manufacturing and engineering firms in Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Minneapolis. He was president of the Cincinnati Personnel Assn. for 18 years and became widely engaged over the years in business, civic and church activities including Jr. High Sunday School teacher, School Board member, Church Moderator, chair of a major riverfront beautification project, a very active part-time college and night school teacher, and a founder and 1st president of the Northfield Arts Guild, a community arts organization. In retirement he and his wife lived five years in Greece, Spain and France. They greatly enjoyed their long and busy life together, including their family of four boys and many good friends. His wife, Elizabeth predeceased him (August 2012) after 69 years of marriage. He is survived by their four sons and seven grandchildren plus a younger sister, Helen McGee of Tucson. A quiet family service was held at their church in Tucson. Memorial donations may be made to El Hogar de Amor y Esperanza, a Christian-based development program for especially needy children in Honduras (El Hogar Ministries, Inc., 70 Church St., Worchester, MA 01890).
