Obituary of MICHAEL DANIEL EDWARDS

Michael Daniel Edwards age 59, of Tucson, AZ peacefully passed away surrounded by 22 members of his family on Friday January 9, 2015 following a short illness. Michael, a native Tucsonan, retired from Southwest Gas after 30 years of service where he met his wife, Naomi. He was a loyal U of A fan, avid fisherman, gardener and master chocolate lab dog trainer. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Alaska, Canada, Idaho, Colorado, Lees Ferry and the White Mountains. There were very few fish in Arizona that Michael did not come face to face with. He cherished his role as godfather and uncle and was unquestionably the best. He could be found regularly at Famous Sam's at Pima and Alvernon visiting with friends and betting on the dogs. As a man of few words, his written stories allowed us to see his sense of humor and left his readers anticipating the next story. He will be greatly missed. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Dale; his beloved "girls" Kahlua, Amaretta, Happy and Shyanne. He is survived by his loving wife, Naomi of 28 years; his mother, Colleen; his energetic "girls" Pippa and Kate; his siblings, Susan (Ed), Brian (Amy), Laurie (Scott) and Jim (Sharon); nieces and nephews, Tanner, Kyle, Patrick, Erin, Kate, Michael, Matthew, Kevin and great-nieces and nephews, Rhya, Taryn, Jayce and Easton. On Naomi's side, he is preceded in death by her father, Raul; sister, Frances and brother, Dan. Michael is survived by Naomi's mother, Lydia; sisters-in-law, Lydia (Bruce), Sally and Marina (George). He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Christina, Arthur Frank, Jessica, Francine, Jacquelyn, Jessie, Kelsey and great-nieces and nephews, Cassandra, Evan, Cole, Frances, Abigail, Stephen, Johnny and Rudy. Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with a Rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Pueblo Chapter Trout Unlimited, P.O.
