PAUL SCARTEZINA

Obituary of PAUL FRANCES SCARTEZINA

Paul Francis Scartezina 70, of Tucson, Arizona, passed January 5, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Dolores and his children, Angela Marie (Denver, CO), Mike Aniceto (Smartville, CA) and Max Anthony (Tucson, AZ). He was also survived by his sister, Sandra Turbidy (Sea Island, GA) and Danny Scartezina (St. George, UT). Paul was born to the late Francis and Emma, November 14, 1944, in Dragerton, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science. While there he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and has remained close with many of his brothers. He attended one year at the University of Arizona before being drafted to Vietnam where he served for two years. Upon returning from Vietnam, he continued his education at the University of Arizona and received his law degree in 1972. He married Dolores Echegarary December 31, 1972. They had three children, Angela, Mike and Max. They built a beautiful home in Tucson, raised their three children, and he practiced private law for 42 years. A cherished and wonderful father, Paul was a private man who put his family first. He was a friend to all. Paul had a dry sense of humor which would sometimes take people off guard, and ultimately cause BIG laughter… especially at his children's expense. He had a passion for fishing, billiards, gardening and fancied himself a ping pong champion. Paul could play "Blue Boogie" on the piano with the best of them. He was also famous for his practical quotes which his family often reference… "it doesn't have to be fun to be memorable" and "You can go broke saving money" are two that stand out. Paul took tremendous pride in his law practice and cared deeply about his clients, especially the elderly. Paul's smile lit up a room. It came out most often when he was with his family, especially when canning tomatoes, fishing with Danny at his cabin on the Strawberry River and when beating his family at Pinochle or Gin Rummy. His smile lives on in his children and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him. In honor of his wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the VA Healthcare System by going to www.volunteer.va.gov. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
