Lupe Rivera

Obituary of Lupe A. Rivera

In loving memory of Lupe A Rivera, who passed away on April 18, 2023. Lupe was the devoted wife of Manual R Rivera and loving mother to her sons Albert, Alfred, and Stephen. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Lupe was a beautiful, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family first. She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She was first to reach out and offer help and assistance to family and friends when they needed it most. Similarly, when she was called upon to give of her time or lend a hand, she never failed to do so.

Lupe was born in Jerome, Arizona on December 12, 1941. Her family moved to Bisbee, Arizona when she was a young girl and she graduated from Bisbee High School in 1960. Soon after, Lupe married the love of her life, Manual Rivera, in 1961. Lupe’s work moved her around Bisbee businesses where she ended with a long, successful career as the Probate Registrar for the Clerk of the Court for Cochise County in 2003. Lupe’s dedication to her family, especially her three boys, and her strong commitment to faith were paramount. She never missed the boy’s school functions, sporting events or club activities – always their number one cheerleader. During her retirement years, she spent her time visiting family and friends across the globe; ensuring she did her best not to miss out on major family events and holidays.

Lupe is survived by her three sons Albert, Alfred, and Stephen (Kevin); sisters Victoria (Alfonso) Celaya, Genevieve (Maurice) Gil; brothers Juan (Becky) Alvarez and Rudy Alvarez. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Robert (Mercy) Rivera, sisters-in-law Mary Ellen (Rudy) Rodriguez, Belen (Donnie) Carbajal, Adela (Frank) Coronado, Betty (Albert) Posada, and Josie (Andy) Lee. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Along with her devoted husband Manuel, Lupe is pre-deceased by her parents (Albert & Julia Alvarez), brother Albert (JoAn) Alvarez and sister Rachel (George) Herrera.

Services will be held on 17 June 2023 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 800 Taylor Dr., Sierra Vista, AZ 85635. The Rosary will begin at 10:00am followed by the funeral mass at 10:30am.
