Debra Wright

Obituary of Debra Dawn Wright

Debi left us December 23, 2022, after a long, spirited battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Gillan Tanner, and her stepfather, John Tanner. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Phil Wright; son, K.C. (Megan) Wright & grandsons (Ian and Sam); son, Cory Wright; sister, Sharon Craft (Chris Gaspard); sister, Vicki Belyeu; brother Michael (Brandi) Tanner; brother Patrick (Inga) Tanner; brother, Scott Tanner.

Debi was born in Gary, Indiana on February 22, 1964. After growing up in Indiana and graduating from Wellington High School in Kansas, she attended Emporia State University. At ESU, she was captain of the cheerleading squad, graduated with honors and met her future husband, Phil.

In 1986, the Wright’s moved to Tucson, Arizona. Debi developed into a Master Teacher at Copper Creek Elementary School in Oro Valley. After relocating to the Chicago Area, she continued her teaching career and became a school administrator with an expertise in writing. She did so all while raising two wonderful sons.

Debi had an infectious personality and was an impactful leader within her communities. She shined everywhere she went, flourishing on her ability to bring out the best in others. She would light up a room with her smile and striking beauty. Her kindness, humor, generosity, and loving heart will stay with her family and friends forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Adair Funeral Homes-Avalon Chapel, 8090 N Northern Avenue, Oro Valley AZ 85704.
