Obituary of Burl David Ramsey

 

It is with much sorrow that the Ramsey/Carrizoza families announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Burl passed away suddenly on November 29th, 2022 in Tucson, Az
 
      He was born October 30th, 1942 in Douglas Az and attended Douglas schools, Faras Elementary, Loretto Catholic School and Douglas High School, graduating in 1961.
 
      Burl had an extensive military career where he served in three branches of the Armed Forces with pride and distinction. Burl joined the United States Marine Corps and Marine Reserves earning the grade of Staff Sergeant. After working with Bowing Aircraft in Seattle, WA, he joined the Navy serving aboard the USS Higbees receiving the rank of Navy Chief Petty Officer 1st Class. Moving to Douglas, Az, he became a member of the Army National Guard with the 2222nd Transportation Co and the 2221st from Tucson, Az, serving in Desert Storm and Desert Shield with the rank of Sergeant. 
 
      Burl is survived by wife Ernestina of Sierra Vista, Az. His three sons David Nicholas (Thelma), Diana and Nicole, of Rio Rico. Alan Lee (Yadhira), Julia, Sebastian, and Sophia of Sierra Vista, Az. George (Lorenia), Patrick and Camilla of Douglas, Az. His sister Betty Carrizoza (Raul) and several nephews and niece. 
 
      Services are set for Wednesday, December 14th at 9:00 am at Holy Resurrection Church, 5910 E 5th Street, Tucson, Az, with interment at Cottonwood Family Cemetary on Geronimo Trail Rd. Douglas, Az.
