Julia Padgett

Obituary of Julia Fay Padgett

Julia Fay Padgett was born March 27, 1944, to Ralph and Vivien Padgett. She is survived by her brother, Jay Padgett and his wife, Mindy, and three nieces, Laura, Amy, and Julie.
Growing up in Mountain View, Missouri, Julie graduated from high school in 1963 and later from William Woods College.  Her teaching career began in St. Louis prior to her moving to Tucson, AZ, where she made Arizona her home for the rest of her life.
For several years she was a counselor at Sunnyside High School.  She later began graduate school at the University of Arizona and completed a Master's degree, and later attained a Ph.D. in Psychology.
After completing the Ph.D., Julie held two different positions at Northern Arizona University, one in the Athletics Department and one in the Counseling Center.  Missing the Sonoran Desert, she returned to Tucson to manage a Federally-funded grant before retiring.
Julie was a avid and dedicated golfer who loved nothing more than being out on a golf course with friends. A love of the outdoors motivated her to hike, fish, water ski, and canoe.  A great cook, Julie also enjoyed entertaining her friends with dinner. Her most appreciated dish was lemon cup pudding! Another love of her life was West Highland Terriers and earlier, Scotties.  Her Westies were Hallepiper, Jolle and Moxie, and currently, Addie.  Julie was creative and enjoyed fixing things which is why she had several tool boxes!
Julie passed away on April 30 at Banner Hospital in Tucson. She was laid to eternal rest in West Plains, MO, with her parents in Oaklawn Cemetery.
For those who would like to make a memorial contribution, the Southern Arizona Humane Society would be a good choice that recognizes her love of animals.
