Obituary of Claire Marie Beers

Claire was born the 10th of 11 children to John and Alice Lies in Knoxville, Missouri outside Kansas City. She grew up with 5 brothers and 5 sisters and never loved anything more than family. She was very proud of her 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.  Mom had her 104th birthday last New Year’s Eve.

Claire married La Verne George Beers and made a home in Tucson shortly after. There she raised Diane, Sue, and Mike. Our house was never locked and all were welcome. She could make a pie, sew a wedding dress, plant a citrus tree, or bandage a knee, with a warm smile and a tuna sandwich.

She was a founder and active member of Broadway Christian Church where she played bridge among many other clubs in town. Mom enjoyed many years working at the U of A scheduling all the classrooms. Blessed with good health, she drove until she was 99 and lived in her own home until 102. Sadly, during COVID 19 she had been in assisted living in Phoenix. We will miss you Mom.

There will be a graveside service at East Lawns Palms Cemetery on Friday March 12, 2021 at 9 am. Contact Mike Beers (beersvista@yahoo.com) if questions. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to your favorite charity.
