Arturo Gallegos, 75, of Tucson, Arizona passed away February 9, 2021 peacefully at his residence in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by his family. He was born on January 7, 1946 in Fresnillo, Mexico to Delfino and Norberta (Rodarte) Gallegos.
Arturo moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1973 where he met and married Irma Castaneda in July of 1976. In 1977, he was blessed with the birth of his daughter, Lilia and a year later with his son, Arturo. In 1979, he and his family moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico where they raised their family. He made Alamogordo his longtime home and worked at Holloman Air Force Base before retiring in 2012.
Arturo was a member of the Cuba Avenue Church of Christ. After retirement, he especially enjoyed volunteering at the church food pantry. Arturo later moved to Tucson to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Arturo enjoyed gardening, making improvements to the family home, helping his children maintain and improve their homes, and spending time with his grandsons. He also enjoyed walking and hiking, and maintained a high level of physical fitness. He actively helped his family and community thrive by always helping people in need, and his example will be emulated by the people he touched in his life.
Arturo is survived by his wife of 44 years, Irma, his daughter and son-in-law, Lilia (Gallegos) and Glenn Lader of Tucson, Arizona, son and daughter-in-law, Arturo and Lisa (Leon) Gallegos, and his two grandsons, Omar and Luis Gallegos of Tucson, Arizona. He is also survived by two siblings, Graciela Gallegos of Zacatecas, Mexico and Miguel Gallegos of Bloomington, Illinois.
Due to COVID restrictions, a memorial service will not be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arizona Hemophilia Association or the Sangre De Oro Hemophilia Foundation of New Mexico.
