Obituary of Rosa Hinojos Ruiz

                                ROSA HINOJOS RUIZ

Born August 30, 1928 in Safford, Arizona and went to be with the Lord JESUS on December 8, 2020. She was born to Amelia and Roman Hinojos.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Chavez Ruiz, of 71 years upon his death on November 13, 2018. They were a couple from the beginning of their marriage on April 12, 1947. Where dad loves telling anyone who would listen, he called her to the back to the butcher counter of the Safeway store in Safford so he could flirt with her. They started out in Safford, moved to San Manuel then landed in Tucson. They travelled the United States and once to Italy. They loved travelling.

Four children were born to them; Joe, Danny, Gloria and David; and by extension the following happened: Joe his wife Joyce and grandchildren Anissa Rey Kelly (Dean), Helena Nichole Snowden (Shawn), Carolyn Castaneda, Greg Gordin (Amber); great-grandchildren Quentin, Daymian, De Shawn, Anaiya, Marisa, Jordan, Alex, Julian and Alycia. Danny his wife Yvonne and grandchildren Jessica Siqueiros (Guido), Gabriel Ruiz, Eric and Paul; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Mariah, Unykee, Jessini, Jewel, Joi and Aleze, Paul Jr., Marilyn, Reni, Jordan, Destini, Aexis and Bethenay. Gloria husband Tom Hubbard; grandchildren, Frank and Loma Romero, Melissa (Jesus) Medina; great-grand children, Joshua, Amy Nichole, Jacob, Ana Rosa, Ashley Lauren, Analisa Lira (John), Jesus Jr.; great-great-grandchilren, Leilani, Giovanni, Alina Lira and Traca Romero. David his wife Cathy; grand-children, Alyssa Skowron (Walter), Kyla Cuomo (Chad), Kira Frye (Sean), Mark Ruiz (Melissa), great-grandchildren Ciarra, Liam, Nathan, Mark, Jerinne, Jayden and great-great-grandson Aiden.

Like so many women of that era she grew-up with her mother, three sisters and a brother, who have preceded her in death, Dora (Angel) Reyes, Toni (Reynaldo) Sanchez, Mary (Ruben) Reyes and Jacinto (Celia) Hinojos; on a small plot of land in San Jose, Arizona. They received government assistance and worked various jobs; picking cotton, cleaning houses and watching children. They each married young and married men who loved them and raised them, provided well for them and blessed us, their children. They loved and welcomed their half brothers and sisters; Johnny Paredez (wife, Lily, deceased), Raymond (Yolanda) Hinojos, deceased his twin brother, Richard (Lupe) Hinojos, deceased. She is survived by her sister Irene Aguirre (Nolbert).

Mom and dad lived very full lives. We say they because they were a pair. she was an obedient wife Until she disagreed (smile here) then he listened. They are a good example as well as our aunts and uncles of what a good marriage can be; they made a commitment to each other and fought until they worked it out. She was a good mom, a good cook (though her chili sure was HOT) and a gem to get to know.

We thank you heavenly Father for them, for her. We know she loved us especially when she yelled at us because she only wanted the best for us. And thank you Heavenly Father for taking her so gently and for Korii and Lejae for being with her at the end and Max for making her smile. We wish to thank Teresita of Casa Theresita for the loving care she and her staff gave mom during her stay there.

A graveside service will be held on Friday December 18, 2020 at Holy Hope Cemetery at 9am.; officiated by Deacon Mario Rodriguez.
