Mary Aragon

Obituary of Mary Dominguez Aragon

Mary Dominguez Aragon, 92, of San Manuel, Arizona passed away peacefully June 2, 2020 at Abuelos at Edgewood Assisted Living in Tucson, AZ. She was born on August 16, 1927 in Peoria, AZ to Manuel and Josefa (Fimbres) Dominguez.

Mary is survived by her sisters: Petra (Alfonso) Merino, Nicki Liliroth, brothers: Manuel F.  Dominguez, Ralph F. Dominguez, Joe F. Dominguez, and Leo F. (Peggy) Dominguez; children: Frank (Dorothy) Aragon, Annie (Nick) Gaona, Becky Ehle, Joe Aragon, Mike Aragon, Richard (Shila) Aragon, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents: Manuel Dominguez, Josefa (Fimbres) Dominguez; brothers and sister: Pete F. Dominguez, Izzy F. Dominguez, Toni D. Bernardine; husband, Frank H. Aragon, and granddaughter Catarina A. Gaona.

Mary grew up in Portal,AZ and Rodeo, NM. She attended school in Animas, NM and graduated from Animas High School. After she graduated, she went to California with her brother Pete for a time. Then after her sister Toni graduated from high school,  Mary went to Lordsburg, NM and worked as a waitress where she met Frank. They were married in 1952 and started their family. She raised her family with Frank in NM for a number of years, then moved to San Manuel where Frank worked at the mine and the children attended school. At the opening of San Pedro Pizza, Mary worked there with her son for a short while.

Mary enjoyed sewing and took up quilting later in life. She worked on quilts with some ladies from the community and made quilts for some of her grandchildren when she could still sew. She liked to walk for exercise when she was still able to, and you could see her with some of her friends walking through San Manuel in the early morning. Mary and Frank were members of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and sang in the church choir. You could find them at Sunday mass singing in English or Spanish, then afterward, helping out in the church hall.

You were a part of so many lives - family and friends. You will be greatly missed by us all! Now it's time to go rest with the angels and dance with Dad! We love you, Mom!

Many thanks to the staff at Abuelos at Edgewood, and to Remita Health for their Hospice care.
