Obituary of Richard Berlo

Richard Joseph Berlo Richard Joseph Berlo passed away peacefully on Monday March 16th at Cascades of Tucson. Richard was born in Gardner Massachusetts on March 8th 1928 to Paul W. Berlo and Matilda S (Hohmann) Berlo. After graduating from Gardner High School, he enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. Upon returning from the Navy, he worked at Berlo Brothers repairing radios. In the late 1950's he began working for Lachance Furniture and Appliance repairing televisions. In 1956 he married the love of his life and devoted wife Ann Marie (Slein). They celebrated 61 years of marriage the day before she passed in July of 2017. He enjoyed a full and happy life in Gardner with many hobbies including oil painting, photography, stained glass, wood carving, black powder guns and his Pontiac Trans Am show car. In 1996 he and Ann moved to sunny Tucson Arizona where they enjoyed a long retirement discovering all the beauty of the West. He was a very active member of his church, the American Legion and the condo association where they lived. In addition to his wife Ann, he was preceded in death by his devoted daughter Dolores A. Zimmerman (September 2019) as well as sister Helen Berlo and brother Paul Berlo. He leaves his loving son Eric and his wife Susan of Hubbarddston MA; grandson Trevor Berlo of Worcester MA; Son-in-law Chuck Zimmerman of Tucson AZ; grandson Anthony Zimmerman of Oregon; granddaughter Nicole (Zimmerman) Young and husband Jason of Tennessee as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family
