Obituary of George Hale Munro

George Hale (Torchy) Munro 1/18/1924 - 1/23/2014. Torchy's legacy will not be measured by the material things he left behind but by the lives he touched, and George (Torchy) Hale Munro touched a lot of lives. Torchy Munro was born on January 18, 1924, in Grand Junction, CO, and passed from this earth on Thursday, January 23, 2014. He served valiantly in World War II, as an Air Force Navigator and was shot down over the English Channel in 1944 and was incarcerated in a German prison camp for a year. Upon the end of WWII, he was released and moved back to Grand Junction where he met the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Anita Faye. Torchy and Anita then went on to live in Estes Park and Loveland, CO, as well as Mesa and Tucson, AZ. Anita Faye passed on January 1, 2005. Torchy lived a life of integrity, generosity, and love and will be sorely missed by his two surviving sons, Eddie and Scott of Tucson, AZ, as well as, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving relatives, Eddie, (wife) Sandi, and their children Michael, Ryan, (wife) Dara Omar, Travis and Andrew and their children, Samantha, Cinema, Alyssa, Matthew, Ashley and Haley Marie. Scott (wife) Holly, and their children, Hannah, (Fiancé) Kajuan, Jordan, (wife) Heather, Elliot, (wife) Stephanie and their children Zane, Abbie, Jordan, and Jacob. A Memorial Service will be held over Memorial Day weekend at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, Colorado.
