Obituary of Raloy E. Brown

Raloy E. Brown, Ray (Bear, Dad, PopPop, Dr. Ray), passed away at home November 16, 2013, ten days shy of his 84th birthday. He was born in Fredericksburg, Pennsylvania, on November 26, 1929, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, earned a BS from Lebanon Valley College and M.Ed. from Penn State. In 1970 he was chosen as a Ford Foundation Fellow for an innovative leadership program at the University of Pennsylvania, receiving his doctorate in 1973. During his career in education, he was a teacher, principal and professor. Ray is survived by his wife, Carole; his son, Chris (Angel) Brown; his daughter, Anna (Michael) Grill; stepson, David (Beth) Guglielmo; and stepdaughter, Knansee (Billy) Taylor; as well as five grandchildren: Jason, Ciana and Kylie Brown, Eve and Grace Grill. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, November 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Vista de la Montana Methodist Church, 3001 E. Miravista Lane, Oro Valley. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the UA Sarver Heart Center, Development Office, P.O. Box 245046, Tucson, AZ 85724.
